PAO ceramic creates poetic objects to give beauty to our daily lives.

Inspired by French rêverie and everyday romance, her work is an ode to the delicate beauty of nature. Her ceramic art associates simplicity with a fragile elegance so that one can surround oneself with creations that inspire and hold dear. With graceful illustrations and finely engraved patterns, Paola infuses her collections with a narrative essence that stimulates the mystical experience.

Paola De Narvaez is a French ceramist, illustrator and graphic designer. She started her ceramics journey in 2020 in Antwerp, where she now works and lives.

“Mixing drawing and ceramics is for me an evidence. I love to make shapes, drawings, textures and colours play with each other to create a unique world in one piece.”

Handmade,

for life

The pieces I make go through a long creative process. From sketches, to prototypes and fine-tuning, I make sure all my creations comply with the aesthetic I love and communicate.

Clay

The clay I use is high firing clay (1240°C). It is either White stoneware with no grog*, with 10% grog or yellow clay with 40% grog.

*Grog, also known as firesand and chamotte, is a raw material usually made from crushed and ground potsherds, reintroduced back into crude clay to temper it before making ceramic ware. It has a high percentage of silica and alumina.

Glaze

I work with liquid glazes in colors like Shiny white, Satin White, Transparent. Depending on the batch, the glaze might look slightly different from one application to another.

Unicity

Because all pieces are completely hand built, sizes and shapes may vary. I hand paint every piece, so each design is completely unique. No repetition for a non-boring life!
